Based in Edina, Minnesota, we emphasize a "sing-along with us" format as we sing lots of your old favorites. Our repertoire includes a variety of familiar, singable songs designed to involve our audience in a fun and enjoyable way.
A very special thank you goes out to The City of Edina, The Edina Senior Center and the Edina Community Foundation for their long-time and continued sponsorship and support.
The group also wants to note that "This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to legislative appropriations from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.”
We are a mixed group of about 45 seniors sharing a common love of music and the desire to share music with others. Many of the members either belong to or have belonged to church or community choirs. Some play musical instruments while others have always loved music but haven't belonged to an organized group.
It is not necessary to be able to read music to belong. We use printed lyrics that follow the American Society for the Blind large print guidelines and we learn music by rote and repetition. We rehearse in a facility that is compliant with ADA guidelines for accessibility. Arrangements can be made at events for those who need to be seated to be comfortable.
New members are always welcome and there are no auditions! The group practices on Mondays from 11:30-1:30 p.m. at the Edina Senior Center, from September through May. Anyone who loves to sing the old standards along with some more current favorites to very appreciative audiences is encouraged to come by for a practice and see how much fun it is! Try us a few times before making a commitment.
