Edina Singing Seniors
MISSION AND HISTORY: The Edina Singing Seniors is a group that has existed for 45 years. Our consistent goal has been providing a way for seniors to have an opportunity to participate in and share a love of music with those who may not have access to that experience. Through the years, we have developed a sing-along format using music that is familiar to a senior population. Our mission is to provide an opportunity for individuals in settings such as senior and memory care centers, community adult day cares, churches and other organizations to have access to participation in a live musical event. Audiences are encouraged to take part in singing, clapping, tapping and swaying in any way that is comfortable to them and would allow for an uplifting experience. A second but equally important mission is to provide seniors who love music to share their enjoyment with others, thereby enriching their senior years with positive social, intellectual and physically creative interactions.
